Helpful hints for Slots from a DiLiGO Gamer

Another DiLiGO Gamer has blown us away with his "How to" guide for DiLiGO Gamers. Thanks Ken Wilson, this is the best advice we've ever come across- including what we've written previously in our article "Want more tokens? Get more tokens!":

"Hello DiLiGO Slots buddies.  Are you one of those players that gets nowhere with their daily allotment of tokens?  Are you wondering why certain people are at the top of the leaderboard a lot of the time?  Do you want to be up there in the Top 40 every hour you're on, on nearly every machine that you play?  Well, I can help you.

There are a few simple tricks that allow people to get better results than others in DiLiGO Slots and I'm going to show you how this occurs.

1. Use your 1,000 tokens wisely.  There's no use going to Driving Tinkerbell and playing 75 tokens a turn to try and get a miracle, use the tokens on more affordable machines.  On a 15 line machine betting 1 Token per line, this gives you 66 spins (50 x 15 = 990), on a 9 line machine you get 111 spins (111 x 9 = 999), and on a 5 line machine, your 500 tokens equals 200 turns, which allows plenty of opportunities to win!!

2. Spread your tokens around.  Using what I have said in Point 1, you can use your 1000 tokens to attempt to reach the Top 80 on multiple machines.  For example, you can do 20 spins each on Token Rockets and Ancient Egypt which is 360 tokens, and still have enough for 128 spins on Euro 2008, US Elections 2008 or Buccaneer's Bounty on 1x5.  With this method, you can contest for the Top 40 on multiple charts and who knows, you may have a good run of spins on the machines you play and turn your 1000 into 1500, 2000 or more tokens.  Take advantage of the trials that DiLiGO offer on certain machines to sample some of the special features on offer with the higher level upgrades.

3. Upgrade your machines.  As you build points, you'll find it better to upgrade your machine sooner rather than later to get more points out of your wins, which in turn makes it easier for you to upgrade your machines.  It becomes one nice improving cycle as you keep playing DiLiGO Slots more and more, making it easier to upgrade other machines at any other time.  Also, take advantage of the trials that DiLiGO offer on certain machines before you upgrade too, to maximise the amount of tokens that you can gain if you haven't already taken up the trial, otherwise this goes to waste.

4. Get in early with your wins.  As you play, on certain machines you will find that you will get the same score as another player, but you find that you are behind them on the leaderboard rather than tied.  Why is this you ask?  It's because DiLiGO rewards the first player to get that achievement.  So if you have two people who have 3 Tinkerbells on 5x5 for 10,000pts. competing for 1st overall, you'll find that the person who got the winning combination first gets the prize.  This applies all the way down the leaderboard aswell.  So get your big wins early so you can survive the barrage of people who get the same score as you and hold your Top 40 position more comfortably.

5. Don't be obsessed with 1st.  While it is fun to be the winner for that hour and have your name come up as the winner for that hour on whatever machine you have played, the simple fact is that you may spend more tokens than you need to in your pursuit of being number 1.  For example, you may get 1st on Beijing Olympics 2008 which is 1000 tokens, but you may have spent 1260 tokens in doing so, which means that you would be down 260 tokens overall anyway.  Always look to make a profit in the machines you want to play and be the long term star on DiLiGO Slots, not be the bright star that flashes up for an hour only to be not seen again for days or weeks again.

6. Get more DiLiGO Buddies.  The more DiLiGO buddies you have that you send gifts to and receive gifts from, the easier it will be to have a chance at making that Top 40 as you will have more tokens in your possession and be ready to stake your place on the DiLiGO leaderboards.  If you have just 10 buddies that gift to you, that's a minimum of 500 extra tokens that you can use to play for longer and get more points and tokens.

EDITORS NOTE: To find other DiLiGO Gamers who are also looking for more DiLiGO Buddies to exchange Token Gifts with, join the DiLiGO Slots Token Exchange Group.

7. Get your badges and enter competitions.  You'll find on the Diligo page when they run competitions such as Badge Bingo that if you have those badges and win, then your win is multiplied if you have that badge or the set that badge is a part of.  Also, by being a smart cookie and answering the user submitted questions (or being the smarter cookie and submitting the question itself!) you can also get many more tokens as awarded by the DiLiGO staff.

Just remember people, there's over 7.5 million tokens available from the leaderboards every 24hrs from the 29 individual leaderboards and the overall leaderboard, the question is are you going to take your rightful share of it?? ;)

NOW GET OUT THERE AND START PLAYING!!  GOOD LUCK!! :)"

Newsflash: DiLiGO to recapture Buccaneer’s Bounty

Yesterday, in a shocking turn of events, a crew of pirates turned on the DiLiGO Team and pillaged a large store of DiLiGO Slots points. Now DiLiGO is on a mission to recapture the stolen loot.

The pirates had been invited to DiLiGO headquarters as research consultants and language instructors for a new pirate-themed slot game.

“Perhaps we should have been more prepared,” said DiLiGO’s treasurer. “They are pirates after all. We just thought that, what with it being 2010 and all, pirates were a lot friendlier in a Walt Disney kind of way. We never expected this.”

It was during a discussion on the modern usage of the Jolly Roger when the captain, a black-toothed fellow named Blacktooth, pulled out a cutlass and yelled “Argh! Where be the treasure?”

DiLiGO staff were initially amused and used the opportunity to practise their newly acquired pirate-speak, shouting phrases like, “Ahoy, me hearty!” and “Shiver me timbers!” at the pirate.

One DiLiGO designer who witnessed the scene said, “We were all having fun, and at first Captain Blacktooth seemed perplexed and a little frustrated. He kind of coughed and said, ‘No really guys we want your points.’ When no one took him seriously he grabbed Louisa Lee, DiLiGO's Communications Officer, held the cutlass to her throat and said, ‘Avast land lubbers, or I’ll send her to Davey Jones!’ That’s when we realised what was happening.”

The pirates made off with a huge stash of points from the DiLiGO treasury. But the story doesn’t end there. It would have been a serious loss if it weren’t for the ingenuity of the head of DiLiGO’s programming team, Guillermo. He had a few clever tricks up his sleeves, which he is now using to beat the buccaneers at their own game.

"During our research, the pirates unknowingly gave us all the information we need to be able to hack through their security,” said Guillermo. “As soon as the new game is up and running we can win back everything they took.”

So now DiLiGO wants everyone to be part of the battle to reclaim the pirate plunder. Play Buccaneer’s Bounty and win back your own share of the stolen loot! This is your opportunity to boost your score and take part in a major pirate adventure. The compass scatter symbol and the wild skull ’n cross swords are your secret weapons to recover the Buccaneer’s Bounty and be remembered in the DiLiGO halls of fame!

DiLiGO's Halloween Survival Guide

Have you ever watched a horror movie and thought, “Man these people are stupid! If I found myself alone in a haunted house, I wouldn’t go into the attic when the power is down, or clean out the garbage disposal with my bare hands. That’s just looking for trouble!”

But the thing is, people in horror movies don’t know they’re in horror movies. So they’re not stupid, just ignorant, and it could just as easily happen to you. For example, how simple would it be for you to get sideswiped by a zombie or a witch on Halloween?
I mean everybody is dressed up in ghoulish costumes, so how would you recognise anyone truly supernatural? You would probably offer the first little demon you come across a handful of sweets while it prepares to cast your soul into the depths of hell.

You might argue that it’s easy to tell the difference between a tacky costume and the real deal. But think about this, if you were a real vampire on the prowl on Halloween, wouldn’t you wear plastic fangs, a cheap black cloak and speak with a fake Transylvanian accent just to lull your victims into a false sense of security?

So with this in mind, we’ve come up with some things you can do on Halloween to spot a real monster.

•    Lace all your sweets with garlic and watch carefully who refuses to eat them. Avoid eye contact with these people at all costs and if you can, follow them home to see where they are buried. In the morning you can expose them to sunlight.

•    To lure out demonic serial killers, say to every person you meet, “I’m going to go home and take a really long shower now.” Watch their reaction closely then walk away. Pretend you are going home, but instead follow them around for a while to see if they go to your house.

•    Pour water over every witch that comes near you. With any luck she’ll be screaming, “I’m melting, I’m melting” and vanish in a steaming puddle on the floor. She might also scream, “Hey, what did I ever do to you” and never speak to you again. But in the end the sense of security is worth it.

•    If you have to shake anyone’s hand, make the most of it by giving their arm a sharp tug. If the arm comes off, you know you are dealing with a zombie. To be sure it’s not a fake arm, try and do the same with a leg. This will also help to slow them down when you run away.

•    Ghosts are a little more difficult to deal with. The best thing so far is the old “holy water, vacuum cleaner” trick – simply sprinkle and suck. Take your portable Hoover to the Halloween party, wave it around frequently and spray your blessed water over everyone.  Real ghosts will know you mean business, so any ghosts that avoid you are suspect.

•    When anyone suspicious approaches you, pretend to cower in fear. If the assailant stands over you and laughs like this, “Mwah-ha-ha-ha!” in a deep voice, you know you have a dark enemy on your hands. You can then cower in fear for real.

•    Finally, if you are walking along a scary, dark passage and a cat suddenly jumps out at you, the very next person you meet will be a real monster. Scream and run before they come near you.

So now you might be thinking, how can I still enjoy Halloween without actually meeting any potential monsters?

Well, DiLiGO Games has the solution. You can play "Trick or Treat", our online slots game, all by yourself. Just lock yourself in a sealed room, set up your laptop, stock up on snacks and play to win! It’s got all the best Halloween features with none of the danger. These witches and black cats are full of luck, and on level four the secret doors will unlock a fantastic bonus game! Convince your friends to stay off the streets and come play Trick or Treat with DiLiGO as well. That way your Halloween can be social, fun and entirely monster free!

We'll be running SPECIAL PROMOTIONS on "Trick or Treat" during the month of October. Make sure you watch our Fan Page to find out more.

DiLiGO Interview: Guillermo

Name

Guillermo

Date of Birth

Some where in the seventies.

Who would you say your celebrity  doppelganger is?

Keanu Reaves

What do you do at DiLiGO Games HQ and how  much do you LOVE it?

I make stuff, and think about stuff (mostly food but also slot machines). And I love it soo much that I do it all day every day and even a bit in my sleep.

Which do you prefer and why - playing slots  at a casino or on Facebook?

The casino is where I fell in love with slots. But facebook, is so fun and light. I love the sense of being liberated from the big spending. Now when I pay to play it’s purely for the entertainment and if I get it right I can play for hours without losing money.

What is your favorite game on DiLiGO Slot  Machines and why?

I love them all, but if I had to choose one, I’d say Token Rocket. I really enjoyed making the intro for the bonus game. It is too long and caused me a lot of frustration, but it still makes me smile.

What theme would you most like to make?

I have sooooo many idea’s, its hard to say which one I’d like to see most. The oldest idea is an under the sea game, where you can dive deeper for a limited time to find awesome treasures and multipliers. Its magical and wonderful underwater, I like that.

What's  your best strategy for playing slots?

Before Pam showed us how it’s done my strategy was too embarrassing for me to describe.

EDITORS NOTE: Check out Ken's strategy too. It's awesome!
