What happened to Paris Hilton?

So what has happened to the Princess of High Society, the Queen of Celebutante's, Paris Hilton? With all this talk of Kim Kardashian, all of the girls from The Hill's, and now E! Entertainments latest edition Pretty Wild with the Neiers sisters I can't help but wonder why the biggest, blondest, richest, prettiest socialite of them all has disappeared off the radar?

Okay, so the Neier sisters are a bit of a deviation from the norm in that they're not uber-rich and famous. Their only claims to fame are that their mom is a former Playboy model and Alexis was part of the Bling Ring who burgled various wealthy Los Angeles residents. They almost make Paris Hilton look wholesome by comparison (I did say almost!).

There was a time when it seemed like Paris Hilton was never off our screens, not to mention radios with the success of her debut album. I know I was as surprised as the next person to discover she could sing! Then there were the fragrances and fashion lines which basically had all of the 5 senses covered. She really was all-encompassing! You just couldn't get away from her; to the point where a New York Daily News gossip columnist banned her from his page and the Associated Press had a week-long Paris-free blackout. When the blackout ended she was the first thing they talked about as she'd just been arrested at the time. Her antics, starting with The Simple Life, kept us entertained for years and you can't tell me she is suddenly behaving herself? Or perhaps the short stint in jail really did change her outlook?

However, it does bear mentioning that she is now 29 years old and perhaps heading into her 30's she's decided to step away from the attention she so clearly craved in her 20's. Or is it that her persona reached over-saturation with the public and we now no longer care?

I prefer to pretend that this is the calm before the storm. I like to think that she's plotting her comeback at this very moment to show the likes of Alexis Neiers what a real celebutante is all about. For me, Paris Hilton will always be number one, even if only because she's hot and always will be!

Fifa World Cup 2010: Port Elizabeth

Port Elizabeth is another of the host cities for the Fifa Soccer World Cup. It is situated on the East Coast of Southern Africa and its first inhabitants were the indigenous groups known as the San and KhoiKhoi people. Later it is thought that the Xhosa people moved down from more northern regions to live in the area. The first Europeans to settle in the area were Portuguese explorers in 1488. It was only in 1799 that the British formed a settlement there and it was named after the founder's wife, Lady Elizabeth Donkin (pictured below).

Rufane Donkin was from a well-respected family that served in the Queens Army for a number of generations. A man of his caliber would normally have been married off to a woman of an equal class but, as sometimes happens, he fell in love with a woman for who she was and not for privilege or prestige. She came from a clerical family, and her grandfather had been an Archbishop which was most definitely not of the same social class as Rufane, so who knows whether his family ever approved of the marriage in 1815. What we do know is that the two adored each other and she followed him to his assigned post in India. By 1817 they were expecting a child and their lives seemed like they couldn't be more perfect. Their baby boy was born on Christmas Eve but the birth had been difficult on poor Elizabeth and it was then that their lives took a turn they could never have expected. Instead of enjoying their young family, Elizabeth never fully recovered and her ill-health continued to be a problem. Perhaps it was the heat of India that made her struggle, but eventually in August of 1818 life slipped from her body during a fever.

Rufane was overwhelmed by the death of his soul mate and being left as the only parent for their baby son. So deep was his loss, and so desperate was he to not be parted from his wife that he had her heart removed from her body and embalmed so that he could carry it with him for the rest of his days. The memories of Elizabeth were so painful that he could no longer bear to stay in India and so he packed up everything and moved back to England with his son.

In England he was asked to go to Cape Town to run the colony in the absence of the Lord Somerset. During his time in South Africa he helped establish a small tented town on the east coast of Africa and arranged the sale of land to British Settlers. In 1820 he named this small but growing town Port Elizabeth, in memory of his beloved wife whom he missed so dearly. He never remarried.

These days Port Elizabeth is home to over 1 million people and is considered to be the water sports capitol of South Africa. There is also the Addo National Park where many tourists visit each year to see The Big Five - Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo and Leopard. There is also the added bonus of being able to see Whales and Great White Sharks in the Indian Ocean which runs along the East Coast of Africa.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium will be the location of the World Cup matches and this 48,000 seater is situated in the city center. The stadium itself also carries the nickname "The Sunflower" as this is what many people feel the structure seems to look like.

DiLiGO Interview: Mighty Mike!

Name:

Mighty Mike

Date of Birth

10/10/1986

Who would you say your celebrity doppelganger is?

Jack Black.

What do you do at DiLiGO Games HQ and how much do you LOVE it?

I help with designing the slot machines, I think it's an awesome place to work at. The people are all cool and there's free food.

Which do you prefer and why - playing slots at a casino or on facebook?

On Facebook as it's much more fun competing against my friends for top spots on the Leaderboards- plus sometimes I've even won tokens for coming in the top 20 on the Live Leaderboard!

What is your favorite game on DiLiGO and why?

High Gear because it was my first slot machine I made when I started working at DiLiGO Games.

What theme would you most like to make?

A Yakuza theme or a gaming theme like Mass Effect 2 or FF13.

What's your best strategy for playing slots?

I don't really have one single strategy. I enjoy trying different things. On some of the newer machines where you can increase the amount of tokens bet per line- I like to bet the max amount of tokens per line, but then spin with only a few lines active so that I don't run out of tokens too fast. I like doing this because my tokens last longer and when I do hit a winning spin my pay out is multiplied to the max!
